Norway week five - People

Especially since I travel more south again, I meet more and more other travelers who resemble my way of traveling rather than the many caravan travelers (one owner has called them quite aptly refrigerators). Many young couples, very few solo travelers, with whom I feel particularly connected, because we also like it just so. We all live for a short time outside the classic society, without a home, without a regular working day, without friends and family nearby. I often feel like I live in a very beautiful parallel world, sometimes tolerated, sometimes unnoticed, sometimes admired. At the same time, you become part of a different society, that of the car travelers.

People talk about problems with the cars and how hard it is to get a place at the workshop. Today I met someone who has been waiting for a spare part for two weeks and now knows the whole area around Trondheim very well. A Spanish guy did not get a place at the workshop and then installed the alternator himself with his spanish mechanic on the phone, expensive it was anyway.

My van is fortunately doing great and is now at the latest more than my home sweet home, namely a safe place, something constant in this very unstable being.

With these people you exchange the most beautiful sleeping places (here always the highlight if you can see a seal or a porpoise there), talk about the upcoming weather and what would be best to do, in which direction would be the smartest or most beautiful to drive. One advises against the seen tourist scenes, but drives anyway to the unseen ones, just to be sure, not to miss something. One finds the place not worth seeing, the other would go exactly there. You quickly realize that there is no good assessment than your own.

For one couple, this trip is their honeymoon, for other people, this is where their world trip begins. You meet so many different people and it is interesting to hear from them. Nevertheless, each party has its place of retreat (the car), which is kept very sacred here. Almost too much for my taste, which is perhaps because I have as a solo traveler a little more need to talk :)

Things I have already learned:
09. It always seems advisable to seize the first opportunity when it arises. Even if there are certainly more to come.
